Special Considerations

  • Solutions of 35S-amino acids may be volatile, and can be a contamination problem.
  • Vials of 35S should be opened in a fume hood.
  • Using an activated charcoal filter on the top shelf of incubators will reduce the build up of contamination on the interior surfaces of the incubator.
  • No shielding is needed, it is normally provided with the solution and the apparatus being used.
