MAIN CELLULAR EXPRESSION OF CDw60
- Subset of T cells, platelets
- Thymic epithelium, activated keratinocytes, synovial fibroblasts, glomeruli, smooth muscle cells, astrocytes
- Activation of naive CD4+ T cells results in upregulation of CDw60 expression, however, upregulation of CDw60 expression does not simply reflect an activated state of the T cell. CDw60 identifies a CD8+ Th cell subset. CDw60 expression seems to be correlated with a CD4+ Th type 2-like cytokine profile. A very high frequency of CDw60 positive T cells is found in synovial fluid of normals and arthritic patients and in cutaneous psoriatic lesions
- Granulocytes contain the highest amount of 9-O-acetyl GD3, but are not stained by CDw60
