Freezing and thawing of insect cells

Insect cells such as Sf9, Sf21 and High five can be freezed and thawed using similar protocols for mammalian cells. See Freezing cells and Thawing frozen cells.

Insect tissue culture cells are typically smaller than mammalian tissue culture cells. For freezing, cells should be at a higher concentration, e.g., 0.5-2 x 107 cells/ml.
